Most Affordable Countries for Indians

Over the years, travelling has become a costly affair. With the rising flight costs and higher hotel prices, countries like China, Brazil and even eastern European countries like the Czech Republic, it has become difficult for the frugal traveller to travel in these countries. So today, I bring you 3 amazing yet affordable destinations to visit this summer.

Note: There are plenty of other destinations which can be clubbed under this section but I am only listing my personal preferences.

1. Cambodia

Apart from the historic Angkor Wat temple, there are plenty of other things to do around Cambodia. The southern islands of Cambodia are a gateway to lazy beach holidays, away from the crowded Thai beaches. Sihanouk Ville is one of the better islands to relax and enjoy your holiday. The rich cultural diversity is something to look forward to. The flights from India are quite affordable and if done correctly, you can fetch one for less than Rs. 20,000 for a return flight.

2. Vietnam

One of the cheapest destinations in south-east Asia, Vietnam is paradise in itself. Just the thought of Halong Bay is enough to attract to the destination. The food prices are extremely cheap and the hotels are also quite affordable. But for the typical backpacker out there, hostels are the best bet! Food items like Pho and Bahn Mi are cheap and readily available throughout Vietnam.

3. Egypt

The first thing that comes to mind when you hear the name ‘Egypt’ is The Great Pyramids of Giza (the second being Sphinx). But, there is so much more, the desert safari, Egyptian museums, the mummy exhibit! The street food in Egypt is as cheap as it is in India, just make sure you steer clear of the fancy English restaurants and go where locals eat. Although you should be aware of the tourist scams and must do a thorough research before boarding your flight to Egypt.
